Al Kahf Verse 18 Latin, Tafseer and Its Translation

 وَ تَحۡسَبُهُمۡ اَيۡقَاظًا وَّهُمۡ رُقُوۡدٌ ۖ وَنُـقَلِّبُهُمۡ ذَاتَ الۡيَمِيۡنِ وَ ذَاتَ الشِّمَالِۖ وَكَلۡبُهُمۡ بَاسِطٌ ذِرَاعَيۡهِ بِالۡوَصِيۡدِؕ لَوِ اطَّلَعۡتَ عَلَيۡهِمۡ لَوَلَّيۡتَ مِنۡهُمۡ فِرَارًا وَّلَمُلِئۡتَ مِنۡهُمۡ رُعۡبًا (18)

Latin Inscription : wa takhsabuhum ayqodhon wa hum ruquud, wa nuqollibuhum dza tal yamini wa dza tasy syimaali, wa kalbuhum basithun dzro ‘aihi bil wa shidi, lawith thola’ta’alaihim lawallaita minhum firoron wa lamuli’ta minhum ru’ban

Translation from Sahih International : And you would think them awake, while they were asleep. And We turned them to the right and to the left, while their dog stretched his forelegs at the entrance. If you had looked at them, you would have turned from them in flight and been filled by them with terror. (Surah Al Kahf verse 18)

Tafseer Al Qur'an Surah Al Kahf Verse 18 According to the book Tafsir Jalalain:

وَ تَحۡسَبُهُمۡ (and you would think them) if you saw them – اَيۡقَاظًا (awake) i.e. not sleeping, because their eyes are open, lafadz ayqodhon is the plural form of the singular lafadz yaqidzun- وَّهُمۡ رُقُوۡدٌ ۖ (while they were asleep) lafadz ruquudun is the plural form of lafadz rooqiduun- وَنُـقَلِّبُهُمۡ ذَاتَ الۡيَمِيۡنِ وَ ذَاتَ الشِّ مَالِ And We turned them to the right and to the left) so that their flesh would not be eaten by the ground- وَكَلۡبُهُمۡ بَاسِطٌ ذِرَاعَيۡهِ (while their dog stretched his forelegs) both front legs - بِالۡوَصِيۡدِ (at the entrance) out of the mouth of the cave, and when they turn their bodies, the dog does the same, he also sleeps with them even though his eyes are open - لَوِ اطَّلَعۡتَ عَلَيۡهِمۡ لَوَلَّيۡتَ مِنۡهُمۡ فِرَارًا وَّلَمُلِئۡتَ ( If you had looked at them, you would have turned from them in flight and been filled by) lafadz mulita can also be read Mulli-ta- مِنۡهُمۡ رُعۡبًا (by them with terror) lafadz ru'ban can also be read ru'uban, Allah took care of them by putting fear on everyone who wanted to enter the cave where they were, so that they were kept safe.
